Elaine Shen

Before becoming an instructor, Elaine was a neuroscientist working in biotech, drawn to questions about the brain and behavior. When postural pain led her to try the Gyrotonic Method, she found physical relief and improved mental clarity and emotional wellbeing. She shifted her career trajectory to help others develop the strength, mobility, flexibility, and resilience she now feels. She enjoys teaching anyone who is curious, open, and ready for exploration and discovery. As managing owner of Seattle Changing Room, Elaine cares deeply about cultivating a calm, grounding studio space where everyone feels welcomed, seen and valued the moment they walk in, free to grow into who they are becoming. She's equally committed to supporting the training staff with the same agency and encouragement, so they can do their best work and thrive.
