Mariko Smithashima

Mariko came to the Gyrotonic method in 2013 and quickly fell in love with its transformative properties. She deepened her individual practice for over a decade before becoming a certified Gyrotonic Instructor in 2025. Mariko is also a professional dancer who has performed with many Seattle companies and taught ballet at multiple local studios to children, teens, and adults. She credits the Gyrotonic method with both extending and expanding her dance career. She brings an experienced eye, deep somatic empathy, and an extensive teaching practice to her work. She hopes to support clients to move with ease, efficiency, and joy.
